Bomb Brunch Alert: H Street Kitchen

H Street Kitchen Brunch Hash

We were tasked with finding a brunch spot in Raleigh that had both bottomless mimosas AND a delicious brunch menu. Our foodie travels took us to H Street Kitchen on Hillsborough Street. Bottomless Mimosas, a biscuit bar, and some amazing brunch plates have us adding H Street to our Bomb Brunch spots list.

H Street Kitchen is #BrunchGoals

We always luck out and find some amazing spots. H Street Kitchen is no exception. As you’re driving down Hillsborough Street you can’t miss it. You’ll see their signature marquee sign left over from when they renovated the old theatre that once resided there. As we walked in we saw plates heading to their tables and immediately knew we were about to be in a for an amazing time. Pro Tip: Make a reservation and ask for either a patio or window seat. When it’s nice outside they can open the windows to Hillsborough Street. It gives the window seats a patio feel and is super relaxing on beautiful spring day.

H Street Kitchen Brunch Bloody Mary

From the jump I saw a section on the bar that caught my eye. Get this… they have a Bloody Mary bar! I am personally not a fan of Bloody Marys but the set up was really cool. They had the cocktail by the pitcher and you go up and customize your drink with different add ins. They even had little plates with different salts to use spice up the rim of your glass.

Biscuit Bar Bonanza

H Street Kitchen Brunch Biscuits

We need to first talk about how much of an amazing deal their biscuit bar is. $3 for a delicious spread of biscuits and toppings! We ruined our appetites just a little but it was well worth it. The biscuits were warm and dense, definitely not some frozen subpar biscuit from the grocery store. The jams flat out ROCKED! I tried the Orange + Strawberry and the Lemon + Blueberry. Both were excellent!

Randy went the savory route and had the sausage gravy. I tried a bite of his and the gravy was great. I’m very particular about gravies in general so it does take a lot to get an approval from me. However, this one was good. The texture was great and it was very herby, giving the gravy such full flavor. Naturally, Burly loved it because…meat.

Our Favorites

H Street Kitchen Brunch

This was such a difficult choice but we’re letting you know what our favorite overall dish and why. All of the dishes were amazing and we would recommend all of them. But here are our overall faves.

Burly’s Pick: Spinach Cake Benedict

H Street Kitchen Brunch

We originally didn’t order this dish, but because it was on of their pretty dishes they sent it out of us to try. To Randy’s surprise, it ended up being his favorite. One of his favorite brunch foods is an egg benedict and H Street Kitchen had a great twist on the dish. Instead of putting it on English Muffin or something basic, the base of their benedict are these amazing spinach cakes. It’s not boring spinach. The cakes are moist have such great flavor.  The cakes go so well with the ham and hollandaise.

Puff’s Pick: Special Pork Belly Grits

H Street Kitchen Brunch

Apparently, pork belly is my new jam. I wouldn’t have touched the stuff a year ago but each time I’ve had it… it has been soooooo freaking delicious. H Street Kitchen’s brunch menu has a shrimp and grits plate which I was going to order until our waiter told us about this special. You’re looking a plate full of creamy grits, cheddar cheese, fried pork belly, a onion + pepper medley, topped with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. I can honestly say I won’t be able to have shrimp and grits for a while because this grits dish was just so next level!

I love your site as well Carlie! Thanks for the love. Sans the pork belly, the grits would be amazing on their own.

I so wish that we had more options where I live. The spinach cake benedict would be my favorite I suspect. I might have to try this at home.
