We’re moving into a new apartment soon so that means new spaces to decorate! So far, it’s looking like we have room for a small entertaining area. I’m thinking that space would be perfect for a bar cart! They are the cutest and booziest things ever but where to start? Here are a few ideas if you’re planning to curate your own bar cart.
Raise your hand if you’re in love with bar carts. Ok. I counted 513.7 hands. Now that we’ll have a little extra space for entertaining, immediately my mind went to bar. For the last few weeks, I’ve been sitting at my computer perusing home decor sites looking for inspiration. I am putting a few tips I’ve found all in one place. You’ll also find a few of my wish list items here.
Get a Bar Cart, duh.
So first things first, you’ll need a bar cart or bar tray to display all of your bar related items. I absolutely LOVE this one at Target. It’s under $300, which is a steal! I’ve noticed that the carts can get a little pricey, but hey. It’s the foundation so it needs to be quality. This one is simple and has plenty of space. The only thing I would consider is getting one with higher edges around the top just in case something rolls around. Wouldn’t want your glasses falling off, right?
Glassware, Don’t Overdo It!
I love love love this infographic by Boho Beach Bungalow. Here’s a break down of the essential glassware for a bar.
Even though you have 8 options here, DO NOT try to put all of these on your bar cart! When you’re thinking of what kind of glassware to display, think of the signature drink you’ll be serving. You don’t need to display old fashioned glasses if you’re serving up champagne cocktails. Same thing goes for if you’re doing tequila shots. It makes no sense to have martini glasses on display. Swap out that glassware!
Shake It Up
Get yourself a good shaker and cocktail set. It’s really up to your personality and how you want to curate your bar cart. You can either go classic or get a little fun by displaying a shaker that’s a unique shape or has wild colors.
Blame It On The Alcohol
Friday, let's roll!! It's been busy at the SS HQ prepping for next week's BIG launch with a most fave Brand of All Time! But we're also gearing up for SS collections headed to Orlando and Charleston and I'm shooting a Brand New Sofa Style in the studio today that will also launch next week! The above is the Sedgewick #barcart and the Palm Beach Classic mirror from my apt #GramercyCourt …I haven't seen all of the above very much this year but I'm grateful for the opportunity to work hard since small business'ing is a ride of ups and downs! 😊 Get it while you can, friends!
This tip is kind of pointless but I’ll say it any. Put your libations on display. If you really want to step up your bar cart game, it’s really beautiful seeing carts that have a color scheme down to the liquor bottle. Don’t be afraid to showcase your mixers too! I’m talking about your seltzers, juices and garnishes. Beautify these items by putting them in cute bowls or in pretty pitchers.
Knick Knacks are Key
Last but certainly not least, show your personality with a collection of knick knacks. From playful straws to adorable ceramic figurines, your bar cart knick knacks are the perfect way to make your cart fun. Wayfair.com’s decor section is going to be the death of my bank account.
I can’t wait to get my bar cart set up. As soon as we get settled into our new place I will share pictures of our bar cart with you all. You can start RSVP’ing now for the apartment warming party. Who’s coming over for brunch and cocktails?
