Home Decor Inspiration: The Perfect Bar Cart

Bar Cart Inspiration

We’re moving into a new apartment soon so that means new spaces to decorate! So far, it’s looking like we have room for a small entertaining area. I’m thinking that space would be perfect for a bar cart! They are the cutest and booziest things ever but where to start? Here are a few ideas if you’re planning to curate your own bar cart.

West Elm Home Decor Bar Cart

Raise your hand if you’re in love with bar carts. Ok. I counted 513.7 hands. Now that we’ll have a little extra space for entertaining, immediately my mind went to bar. For the last few weeks, I’ve been sitting at my computer perusing home decor sites looking for inspiration. I am putting a few tips I’ve found all in one place. You’ll also find a few of my wish list items here.

Get a Bar Cart, duh.

Target, Gold Bar Cart

So first things first, you’ll need a bar cart or bar tray to display all of your bar related items. I absolutely LOVE this one at Target. It’s under $300, which is a steal! I’ve noticed that the carts can get a little pricey, but hey. It’s the foundation so it needs to be quality. This one is simple and has plenty of space. The only thing I would consider is getting one with higher edges around the top just in case something rolls around. Wouldn’t want your glasses falling off, right?

Glassware, Don’t Overdo It!

Glassware Home Bar

Boho Beach Bungalow

I love love love this infographic by Boho Beach Bungalow. Here’s a break down of the essential glassware for a bar.

1. old fashioned glass
2. coup
3. champagne flute
4. beer glass
5. wine glass (red and white)
6. martini
7. collins glass
8. shot glass

Even though you have 8 options here, DO NOT try to put all of these on your bar cart! When you’re thinking of what kind of glassware to display, think of the signature drink you’ll be serving. You don’t need to display old fashioned glasses if you’re serving up champagne cocktails. Same thing goes for if you’re doing tequila shots. It makes no sense to have martini glasses on display. Swap out that glassware!

Williams Sonoma Cocktail Shaker

Get yourself a good shaker and cocktail set. It’s really up to your personality and how you want to curate your bar cart. You can either go classic or get a little fun by displaying a shaker that’s a unique shape or has wild colors.

Blame It On The Alcohol

This tip is kind of pointless but I’ll say it any. Put your libations on display. If you really want to step up your bar cart game, it’s really beautiful seeing carts that have a color scheme down to the liquor bottle. Don’t be afraid to showcase your mixers too! I’m talking about your seltzers,  juices and garnishes. Beautify these items by putting them in cute bowls or in pretty pitchers.

I love this! We have a bar cart and I love mixing it up for each season. One thing I will add is a tray! Having a tray on your cart makes it easy to mix several drinks and serve them.

I was not even aware of bar carts until quite recently, but they really add something extra to a room. I’m seriously considering getting one soon.

I love the gold cart from Target! I agree with Lee’s comment on a tray that you can pick up and carry things around on for guests. I also really appreciate that you added knick knacks to your list. It’s fun to show of your personality! I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Yeah. I didn’t even consider the transpiration of the drinks. I was thinking more along the lines of a cute little display and prep area. But a bar tray would add another layer and it could be fun to play around with those as design elements too.

Why wait to get a house?! We are planning to make a bar area in our apartment! The cool thing about the cart is that if you’re not using it for a bar you could use it in your room for storage or even display dishes and knick knacks. I say go for it! Even if you’re in an apartment.

I love seeing how other people arrange their home bars. The gold bar cart is really stunning and the mirrored bottom shelf is a great way to get more storage while looking snazzy!

Bar carts = so hot right now! Seriously, I LOVE them and also love seeing how people ‘style’ them and set them up. I’m not a big drinker so it seems kinda silly for me to have one, but I do love how they look 🙂

They are hot, so you you know I gotta hop on the trend train. Maybe you could do one for coffee or tea?

What a great idea for a statement piece right in the middle of your living room! I haven’t seen these for so long but I love the idea of bringing something classic back in a new way. I think having the glasses at different shapes and levels makes for such an interesting look!
